3e Transversal by bicycle and tricycle“. This is the title of the exceptional expedition of 600 km what will the stroke victims (stroke) and caregivers, with the association AVC Tous Concernés de Barsac (Gironde), from Tuesday May 7 to Monday May 13, 2024, from Arcachon in Sète in theHérault.

AVC Tous Concernés is a stroke prevention association which brings together stroke victims or caregivers, and who have chosen to volunteer to carry out prevention actions.

It is chaired by Philippe Meynard, former mayor of Barsac, who himself suffered a stroke.

Three bicycles, three tricycles, a Stroke Minibus and 10 volunteers will carry out this sporting event but also “Path of prevention” through 6 stages of 85 km each.

The stages of the journey

  • Tuesday May 7: participants will leave at 9 a.m. on the square in front of the Pôle santéArcachon to get to Langon, then to Castets-et-Castillonalong the side canal of the Garonne.
  • May 8: Agen (Lot-et-Garonne)
  • Thursday May 9: (Haute-Garonne), along the Canal du Midi
  • Friday May 10: Castelnaudary (Aude)
  • Saturday May 11: (Aude)
  • Sunday May 12: Béziers (Hérault)
  • Monday May 13: arrival at Sete (Hérault)
  • Tuesday May 14: European Stroke Day. The AVC Minibus will be on the Sète market, Place Léon-Blum. Around a table under the minibus awning: blood pressure control (hypertension is found in 80% of patients who have just had a stroke), screening for atrial fibrillation (cardiac arrhythmia is responsible for a stroke out of 5), information on risk factors, symptoms, and good actions
