We often hear that “dairy products are our friends for life”. However, it seems that consuming it every day is not ideal for your health. We will explain everything to you.

Dairy products: official recommendations

The Public Health website, MangerBouger.fr, recommends: “sufficient, but limited, consumption of dairy products”.

For children, up to adolescence, it is recommended to consume three dairy products per day. This allows them to have a sufficient supply of calcium to ensure good growth and mineralization of bones.

However, for adults two dairy products per day will be enough » indicate the official recommendations.

In 2019, according to the PNNS, it would be necessary that “100% of the population consumes at least one dairy product per day”but “less than four dairy products per day”.

However, drinking milk every day does not seem to be recommended by specialists.

Risk of cancer and intolerance: the harmful effects of milk on a daily basis for adults

According to Doctor Martin Juneau, of the Montreal Heart Institute, drinking milk every day does not only have advantages.

For example, as adults, some people stop producing the enzyme that helps digest lactose. This can cause many inconveniences such as bloating, cramps, diarrhea, flatulence, etc.

The severity of symptoms may vary from one individual to another. According to the specialist, this lactose intolerance concerns 65% of the world’s population.

Some people drink milk daily to prevent osteoporosis. But on this subject, the scientific community does not seem to agree.

Thus, a study published in the British Medical Journal indicates that daily milk consumption increases the risk of mortality and fracture. Other work indicates that the positive effects of dairy on bone health have not been established.

Finally, according to Doctor Juneau, a significant consumption of milk (400 g per day) in humans hasincreases the risk of developing prostate cancer.

Many studies are still underway. Meanwhile, daily milk consumption does not appear to be very beneficial for adults.
