The man who died after being shot in a crack den in the Saint-Hubert borough on Monday in Longueuil is Éric Leclerc, a former member of the Hells Angels, police sources confirmed.

Nicknamed “Beluga” in criminal circles, Leclerc succumbed to his injuries a few hours after his admission to hospital.

The 53-year-old was involved in the biker wars during the 1990s as an aspiring member of the Rock Machines. He was notably known as a henchman whose mandate was to attack dealers from rival clans.

After his arrest, at the turn of the 2000s, Éric “Béluga” Leclerc was one of the first criminal bikers to be convicted of gangsterism under the anti-gang law amended at the time.

While serving his prison sentence, he decided to join the Hells Angels. However, in 2009, his drug abuse problems cost him his status as a member in good standing of the organization. Leclerc had his jacket removed and was sent off.

Our police sources in organized crime mentioned that he had had a difficult life for around ten years, penniless and marked by drug addiction.

The Longueuil agglomeration police department forwarded its criminal investigation to the Sûreté du Québec. At this time, no arrests have been made following this firearm homicide.
