A Belgian couple from Flemish Brabant has been missing for five days on the island of Tenerife, in the Canaries, according to information from Nieuwsblad. Marc Olbrechts (70 years old) and Laura Trappeniers (66 years old) have lived on the Spanish island for around fifteen years.
Since April 22, their loved ones have not received any news and are concerned about this sudden disappearance. It was following their absence from a yoga class two days later that the alert was given. A notice of disappearance was issued by the Spanish National Center for Missing Persons (CNDES).
Their house left open
Strange events also occurred on the evening of April 22, reports the Nieuwsblad. The alarm at their house, located in the small seaside resort of Callao Salvaje, went off. Additionally, the man responsible for maintaining the pool noticed a light inside the home and that the back door was unlocked.
Once inside, the investigators noticed that Laura Trappeniers had not taken her keys and her mobile phone, and that nothing had been prepared for the cat. Their car, for its part, was not present. These clues suggest a kidnapping according to a friend of the couple: “They did not leave voluntarily.”
Foreign Affairs published a press release: “The FPS Foreign Affairs in Brussels and the Belgian Consulate in Tenerife are following this matter closely. We are in contact with the other Spanish and Belgian authorities competent in this matter.”
