The 2025 season got off to a flying start with a record for the lowest score set by Hideki Matsuyama, an albatross achieved after just 4 rounds of competition but also an incredible blunder which earned two players two penalty strokes!
The first two offenders of the 2025 PGA season are called Will Zalatori et Cam Davis. Teamed up in the Sentry's final lap they made one of the most bizarre mistakes.
It was on the par 5 hole 15 of the Plantation Course in Kapalua that the American and the Australian mixed up their ball when hitting their second shot.
It was only once they reached the green that they realized their mistake.
A 300,000 dollar stupidity
Under the rule 6.3cit is therefore a penalty of two strokes for playing a bad ball that each player was inflicted. Furthermore the error had to be corrected by returning to where they should have played their ball.
Instead of a birdie both men left the 15th green with a bogey.
With two shots less Cam Davis would have finished in the top 5. Which in this richly endowed tournament represents a loss of 300,000 dollars!
