“Let’s bow to the queen of fashion,” is how the community manager of the US Open tennis chose to react to the surprising outfit worn by Naomi Osaka to play her first-round match this Tuesday in New York (United States). The Japanese player who also has American citizenship arrived on the court wearing a pale green skirt and details reminiscent of Sailor Moon’s style, notes the HuffPost.

Knots everywhere

The bottom of the former WTA number one’s outfit is indeed covered in frills, and Naomi Osaka wears an accessory resembling a tulle tutu under her skirt, as shown in the video posted on the US Open’s X account. The dress is decorated with a wide white belt closed with a huge bow in the back. The back of the athlete’s shoes is also decorated with a small green bow.

When she entered the court and warmed up, Naomi Osaka wore a white jacket with, again, a huge green bow on the back. She took it off when the match began. The match saw the Japanese prevail against the number 10 seed Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets. In the next round, the “fashion queen” will face Karolina Muchova in an attempt to stay in contention in the tournament she has won twice.
