Check out the first trailer for the adaptation of the hit video game “Minecraft” starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black. In theaters April 2025.

After 10 years of waiting, the Minecraft film, adapted from the video game of the same name which has sold more than 300 million copies worldwide, is finally revealed with a first trailer.

Released in 2011, the video game developed by the Swedish Markus Persson aka Notch, quickly became a global phenomenon with more than 140 million monthly players. In the works since 2014, the film has been postponed several times but Warner Bros had to speed things up before losing the exploitation rights.

The trailer for the feature film directed by Jared Hess is reminiscent of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black, who also appears in the cast of Minecraft in which he plays Steve.

The adaptation of the hit game also stars Jason Momoa, who has a fringe for the occasion, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon and Jemaine Clement.

Warner Bros

Jason Momoa

In this film, four misfits – Garrett Garrison aka The Garbage Man (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) – find themselves grappling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly drawn through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a strange, cubic wonderland that feeds on imagination. To get back home, they will have to learn to master this world and protect it from evil Piglins and Zombies while embarking on a magical quest with an unlikely expert: Steve (Jack Black).

After Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Jason Momoa appears almost unrecognizable with his improbable haircut and his astonished look.

Minecraft will be released in our theaters on April 2, 2025.
