Our video investigation highlights the weakness of the accusations, at the heart of the international arrest warrant issued by Japan against the founder of Sea Shepherd. The charges are all linked to an anti-hunting campaign carried out in 2010 off the coast of Antarctica. In our video investigation, we show images from the time, and compare the points of view, between those filmed by Paul Watson’s teams and by the Japanese whalers. We also reveal the contents of the Japanese arrest warrant and the Interpol Red Notice.

On Wednesday October 2, Paul Watson, currently incarcerated in Nuuk in Greenland, saw his third request for release rejected. The court extended his pre-trial detention while waiting for Denmark, which has guardianship over the island, to make a decision on Japan’s extradition request.
