Natalie Stichova, a 23-year-old Czech professional gymnast, fell nearly 70 meters to her death while hiking on Tegelberg, a peak in Bavaria, Germany.

The young woman died six days later from her serious injuries, according to information reported by several German newspapers.

The tragic accident happened near Neuschwanstein Castle, while the gymnast was trying to capture the perfect photo for Instagram.

A friend of Natalie Stichova revealed that she was very close to the edge of the mountain when one of her legs slipped while she was preparing for her selfie in front of the castle.

He thus confided: “She fell from a height of about 70 meters. We will never know if she slipped or if a piece of the rock ridge broke off.”

At the time of the incident, the young woman was accompanied by two friends and her boyfriend. Police described the route taken as a “difficult climb”.

Irreversible brain damage

According to local media, Natalie Stichova initially survived the fall with serious injuries and was quickly evacuated by helicopter to hospital.

Natalie Stichova, 23, regularly shared photos of her adventures with her followers on Instagram, often showing herself on top of mountains in workout gear.

She was a well-known sports figure in the Czech Republic and had recently started coaching junior athletes.

On August 21, her family had to put her on life support due to irreversible brain damage.

Unfortunately, Natalie Stichova’s tragic accident is not an isolated case. Such events continue to make headlines around the world.
