Sébastien Ogier maintains the pace at the head of the rally this morning, Fourmaux passes Elfyn Evans for second place and increases the gap, Grégoire Munster offers his first special in WRC
After a second day which saw two changes of leader, the crews set off this morning for a new loop of three special stages which will have to be completed again this afternoon. In conditions that remain as tricky as ever with mud and intermittent rain, Sébastien Ogier maintains his lead ahead of Adrien Fourmaux who dislodges Elfyn Evans from second place. Important morning for Grégoire Munster who won his first WRC special.
Ogier maintains the lead, Fourmaux passes Evans for second place
Leader this morning, Sébastien Ogier maintains his lead at the end of this first loop on Saturday. Despite tricky road conditions, especially for those who start last like Ogier, the rally leader is doing quite well. Without any special victory this morning, Ogier plays it safe and just makes sure to widen the gap on the rest of the podium. Behind Ogier, however, it is a fierce battle between Adrien Fourmaux and Elfyn Evans for second place. Second overall this morning, the Welshman gave up his second place to Fourmaux in SS11 before the Frenchman hit the nail on the head in SS12, the last special of the morning.
Still fourth overall this afternoon, Kalle Rovanperä sees Ott Tänak returning at full speed. Rather confident this morning, Tänak took advantage of the three stages of this loop to considerably reduce the gap. Fifth with 17 seconds behind this morning after SS11, Tänak is now only a small second behind Rovanperä.
Much larger gaps behind with Katsuta, Pajari, Neuville and McErlean. Unhappy the day before with an abandonment on the link between the last special and the service which relegated him very far in the ranking, Grégoire Munster was the attraction of the morning with a superb victory in SS10 for less than a second ahead of Sébastien Ogier, the first WRC special victory for the Luxembourger!
-Finally, in WRC2, Yohan Rossel flies to the top of the standings, now more than two minutes ahead of Eric Camilli, himself followed very closely by Léo Rossel at just 1.5 seconds. In the rest of the top 10, we still find Pablo Sarrazin and Sarah Rumeau.
