The FIA and Formula 1 have officially moved to 2025 like the rest of the world and it is time to take stock of what awaits us this season.
Starting with the Formula 1 World Championship calendar, with a new 24-round season coming up for fans, drivers and teams as the championship marks its 75th anniversary.
Starting with the Australian Grand Prix on March 14-16 and ending with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on the weekend of December 5-7, the paddock will once again visit five continents. There will be no new Grands Prix in 2025, just a few date changes.
Ramadan will take place throughout the month of March 2025 and the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix will therefore take place in April.
The traditional summer vacation remains in August, with three weekends off separating the Hungarian Grand Prix before the Hungaroring vacation and the Dutch Grand Prix after the Zandvoort vacation. But there will also be a gap in July of 3 weeks between Silverstone and Spa. Is F1 trying to avoid summer, which is less favorable for TV audiences?
Changes to the calendar made in 2024 to create a better geographic spread of races have been kept for 2025, with Japan in April following Australia and China, followed primarily by European races during the summer and the Americas in the fall , before Qatar and Abu Dhabi to end the season.
On the Sprints side, the first news is that the number of these 100 kilometer races will remain the same. In fact, there will always be six Sprints contested on Saturday morning. The format adopted in 2024 does not change with Free and Sprint Qualifying on Friday, Sprint and Qualifying for the Grand Prix on Saturday.
The first will take place on March 22 in China, the second on May 3 in Miami, and the third on July 26 in Belgium. Like this year, there will be three before the summer break, and three after the four-week break.
The fourth will take place on October 18 in Austin, the fifth will take place on November 8 at Interlagos, while Losail and the Qatar GP will host the last of the season on November 29.
In the end, the only change compared to this year is the disappearance of the Sprint at the Austrian GP, which had hosted one for several years, and its replacement by a Sprint at the Belgian Grand Prix.
