Formula 1 | / FIA drivers' revolt: Horner positions himself on Ben Sulayem's side

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA, recently sent the drivers united under the banner of the GPDA back to their ropes.

According to him, an F1 driver is made to drive and should not stick his nose in the regulations. As for the way in which the FIA manages them, in particular via the stewards, “It’s absolutely none of their business”.

Comments which have not yet received a response from the GPDA, the holidays having already started.

But Christian Horner, the director of Red Bull, wanted to defend Ben Sulayem on certain points.

“Well, he's absolutely right. It's up to the FIA, as the regulator of the sport, to write the regulations and police them. And when you sign up for the championship at the start of the year, you sign on dotted line to follow these rules.”

“So it's not the job of the drivers or the teams to write the regulations, nor should it be, because that would be too great a conflict of interest in terms of the intent of those regulations. “

“So he is absolutely right that it is up to the FIA to control and regulate the sport.”
