The capacity for spectators on the side courts of the Masters 1000 in Paris (October 25-November 2), which moves in 2025 from Bercy to La Défense Arena in Nanterre, will be “greatly increased“, the organizers indicated on Wednesday. After announcing at the beginning of November that the central court could accommodate 16,500 spectators (compared to around 15,000 in the historic tournament hall), the French Tennis Federation revealed Thursday that 4,000 spectators could attend the daily tournaments. matches on court N.1.
If the capacity of courts N.2 and N.3 was not communicated in the press kit published by the FFT, the total capacity of La Défense Arena already exceeds that of Bercy, a venue where the tournament had been played since 1986 but which had become too cramped with regard to the ATP criteria for the Masters 1000, the most prestigious events after the Grand Slams.
“Separating” curtains?
In the east of the capital, the two annex courts could respectively accommodate 1,233 (court N1) and 532 spectators (court N.2), according to figures communicated to AFP by the FFT, i.e. a total capacity of Around 17,000 spectators on all courts combined. According to the plans for the new venue for the last Masters 1000 of the season unveiled on Wednesday by the FFT, the hall will be divided into two large spaces, with the central court on one side and the three annex courts on the other (Bercy n’ had only two).
The two spaces will be separated by a training court and a player warm-up area, not accessible to the public. “Separators”, probably curtains, will isolate the different spaces between them, while only the stands will separate court N.2 from court N.3. The first tickets for the 2025 edition, marketed in the form of special Christmas offers, will go on sale on Thursday “around noon”. Single ticket sales will begin on July 2, 2025.
