The reason: the councilor would have used his phone normally, without anticipating the needs for a plan adapted to communications from Tahiti. This expensive bill is added to the 59,500 euros paid by the City of Paris, and therefore, indirectly, by Parisian taxpayers.
A trip worth 90,000 euros
The stay in Tahiti was widely talked about, particularly for the private turn this trip took. If the mayor of Paris visited French Polynesia as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, she also visited her daughter for two weeks. A visit therefore financed by the City of Paris.
Between transport, accommodation and catering costs for Anne Hidalgo and her five colleagues, nearly 90,000 euros were spent on this trip. An anti-corruption association had filed a complaint for embezzlement.
