Nico Rosberg, former rival and teammate of Lewis Hamilton, praised the Briton's exceptional performance during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the seven-time world champion once again demonstrated all his talent.
Lewis Hamilton's weekend in Abu Dhabi got off to a bad start. Qualified only 16th, the Briton started with a serious handicap, especially against his teammate George Russell, who started from sixth position.
But it was Hamilton who finished top of the Mercedes, securing an impressive fourth place after a spectacular race. The peak of his performance came on the last lap, with a masterful overtake on his teammate Russell.
Rosberg admiring: “The mark of the greatest”
At the end of the race, Nico Rosberg did not hide his admiration for his former teammate. Speaker on Sky
Sports F1he described Hamilton as the greatest driver of all time.
“The way he drove was the mark of a seven-time world champion. He overtook George at the end, starting from way back on the grid. It was a phenomenal race.” Rosberg said.
The decisive overtake on the last lap particularly marked the former German driver: “It was incredible. The way he prepared for this overtake was pure perfection. He overtook from the outside in a tricky section. That's where you see all the talent of a champion . Respect.”
Hamilton's natural talent, an F1 legend
Rosberg, who beat Hamilton to the title in 2016, also spoke about his experience as the Briton's teammate. He did not hesitate to describe the seven-time world champion as a driver with almost superhuman talent.
“Lewis probably has the greatest natural talent the sport has ever seenhe confided. There were so many moments where, with the same car, I would look at the data and say to myself, 'What he's doing is just unreal. It's not even human.'”
This new praise from Rosberg adds to a long list of testimonies which highlight the impact of Lewis Hamilton on Formula 1. Despite a lackluster season for Mercedes, the Briton proves once again that he remains the one of the greatest pilots in history.
