Dalin regains a little lead over Ruyant, new record for Richomme, the ranking at 7 a.m.

The race around the world continues with a great fight between Dalin and Ruyant for the leadership position. But behind the duo, like Richomme, the other competitors maintain great ambitions.

Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) regained a slight lead over Thomas Ruyant (Vulnerable) on Monday at 7:00 a.m. (06:00 GMT) while Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa) got closer to the leader, after once again beating the record for distance traveled in 24 hours.

In total, thanks to the depression which allowed them to accelerate on Sunday, six boats beat the previous record established between Tuesday and Wednesday by Richomme (551.4 miles covered, or 1022 kilometers).

But it was the 41-year-old sailor himself who improved this record the most, with 579.86 miles (1073.9 km) covered in 24 hours, ahead of Rettant (572.4 miles, 1060.08 km).

“We are not going quickly to make the record but above all to try to keep the ideal position with this depression, we do not know what will happen next but, in any case, if we can keep it as long as possible, it will is good, we are getting closer to the objective and the South Seas,” Ruyant explained to the organizers.

Dalin regained ground during the night on Rettant, which he is ahead of by almost 50 miles. Richomme, for his part, has moved slightly closer to the leader, and is at 58 miles.

A fairly significant gap was created between the first three and their four immediate pursuers.

Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable) has lost three places, going from 4th to 7th position, but he is only 12 miles behind Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil), new 4th.

«The match is super close, everyone is going fast, the fleet is really impressive! We're all there within a hundred miles, in an Imoca it's rubbish!», Tempered Rettant. “I just peaked at 32 knots there, I feel like a little animal in this hull going at Mach 12! But survival is going well», joked the 6th in the previous Vendée Globe.

Obviously, these crazy speeds are the envy of the rest of the fleet, deprived of the windfall, like Louis Duc (Fives Group-Lantana Environnement), 28th, 965 miles from the lead. “We have a beautiful depression which will take our comrades with well-propelled foils towards the South Seas, and we will have the crumbs of their depression, we will have to follow the front along the Brazilian coasts“, he lamented.

However, and despite several damages since the start, there is no reason to deny his pleasure for the Manchois, a novice to the south of the Equator and who has “looking forward to discovering these landscapes, these seas, these long swells».
