Formula 1 | Colapinto wants 'direction', Albon seeks 'confidence'

Franco Colapinto was the best representative of Williams in FP2 of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. However, the Argentinian driver was only 18th after a complicated day, even if he took advantage of running on the Strip circuit to gain confidence.

“It was a great experience today to drive for the first time under the lights of Vegas. In the first free practice session we were quite strong, but the track was very dirty, like a rally track , when we started today” said Colapinto.

“It's a very loose track and with the low temperatures it's difficult to get the tires up to temperature and keep them in the window. We're going to work hard tonight to understand the best direction to take tomorrow and I I'm sure we will be stronger.”

Alex Albon had an almost zero second session in terms of laps covered after a fuel system problem. The Williams F1 driver recognizes that a lack of running is not ideal on a circuit where confidence is a crucial parameter.

“We are definitely short on mileage today and at this circuit it is vital to do these laps because it is very tricky and you have to feel confident with everything, especially when braking” Albon said.

“We will be able to resolve that, but we certainly have a lot of work to do tomorrow in FP3. We need to look at our performance and see where we can improve, but it will be about putting the tires in the right window , and we're not quite there yet.”
