The Montpellier president speaks about the future of the MHSC on the sidelines of the 50th anniversary of the Hérault club.
Laurent Nicollin at MHSC, stop or still? No reason to think that the current president of the Hérault club – 18th and last in the Ligue 1 standings – will hand over in the coming months, not at all. In the medium term, however, the question seems to arise. Asked by Free Midday before the 50th anniversary of the club founded by his father, the late Louis Nicollin, he left doubt. Especially when the MHSC will finally have its new stadium.
“I am 51 years old, the Mosson represents a lifehe says. But for me, there is also the Paillade district, my youth, the Coupe de France matches, the Champions League, the D2… The club evolved at the same time as the stadium, one went with the other. I hope that the club will continue to survive, because it should not decline at the same time as the stadium. We will do everything to ensure that the handover with a new stadium goes as smoothly as possible, with a club still in Ligue 1, proud of its results and its supporters. Afterwards, will I be in this new story? There is life after La Mosson, maybe not, I don’t know”he slips.
Steak frites au Casino
President of the Hérault club since 2017, Laurent Nicollin has never been far from the MHSC of course, he who remembers the time when he went “eating steak and fries at the Casino next to the church with (his) brother (Olivier) and (his) mother (Colette). Then she left us for training on the small grassy field, which stuck to the prefabricated offices, before my father brought us back from La Paillade. It’s all my youth”. His whole life in fact.
