After the homophobic chants that occurred at the Parc des Princes this Saturday during the victory against Strabsourg, the Minister of Sports reacted in a government press release.

This Saturday during the Ligue 1 match between PSG and (4-2), homophobic chants were chanted by Parisian supporters at the end of the match.

The Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Life Gil Avérous, and Othman Nasrou, Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior, responsible for citizenship and the fight against discrimination, “firmly condemned these homophobic chants and discriminatory slogans which have no place at a sporting event and are a detrimental attack on the values ​​promoted by sport” the government said in a press release.

The Government adds that it has taken note of the condemnation by the professional football league (LFP) of the chants and the referral to the disciplinary committee.

Gil Avérous and Othman Nasrou will meet at the start of the week with the president of the LFP to “discuss additional measures that could be deployed to prevent the recurrence of such homophobic acts”.
