The Muscat Classic, always the day before the Tour of Oman
As for three years now, the Muscat Classic will take place the day before the departure of the Tour d’Oman, on Friday February 7. For its 3rd edition, the Muscat Classic maintains its hilly route between Al Mouj and Al Bustan with a nervous finale marked by the climbs of Bousher Al Amerat (3.4 km at 8.8%), Wadi Al Kadir (2.1 km at 7.3%), Al Hamriyah (0.8 km at 9.8%) and Al Jissah (1.4 km at 9%).
The first step of Tour d’Oman should be suitable for sprinters. A first battle between punchers is expected the next day with the ascent of Yitti Hills (1.6 km at 7%), the summit of which is located 800 m from the finish line. The intensity will increase further with stage 3, on the slopes of Eastern Mountain (4.6 km at 8.5%). The peloton, and in particular the sprinters, will then find mainly flat terrain between the Oman Across Ages Museum and the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (stage 4). The final stage promises a great spectacle, with the usual appointment on the terrible slopes of Jabal Al Akhdhar (Green Mountain): 5.7km at 10.5%.
