After 2018 (Camors), 2021 (Châtelaudren) and 2023 (Cruguel), Tony Périou (VCP Loudéac) will aim for a fourth Brittany champion title, Sunday afternoon, in Quimper. Undefeated in Brittany since the opening of the season, the Finistère crossman should logically add an ermine jersey to his collection which would allow him to match Morbihannais Matthieu Boulo, titled in 2010, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
The ten jerseys of Hilaire Desclos
Whatever happens, he will remain far from the specialty record holder who is not about to be beaten. Hilaire Desclos, that's who we're talking about, remains untouchable. The Costarmorican from Pléneuf-Val André no less than ten titles of Brittany cyclo-cross champion… including nine obtained consecutively from 1974 to 1982!
Florian Le Corre counts to nine
Another Costarmorican appears in second place in this ranking of Brittany champions: Florian Le Corre. Crowned for the first time in 2005, the Loudéacien won five titles in a row (from 2005 to 2009) before regaining the ermine jersey in 2011 and keeping it until 2013. And winning it again in 2015! Five and four make nine!
Two men on the third step
With seven Brittany championship titles each, Guillaume Benoist and Patrick Robin are camped on the third step of this podium. Guillaume Benoist won his titles in succession (from 1998 to 2004) while the “era” of Patrick Robin lasted from 1983 to… 1996, Ronan Pensec and Rémi Hello sometimes stealing the spotlight.
Hello to the club of five
Rémi Hello, in fact, then arrives with five Brittany championship titles (the last in 1994) like Fernand Laporte (the first in 1956) and Alfred Richeux crowned from 1966 to 1970.
Robert Le Denmat, Louis Gillet, Jean Guédart all have two titles while Miguel Fillaut, Daniel Blouet, Ronan Pensec (in 1985) and… Louison Bobet (in 1948) all have one title in their pocket.
