Like every year, Loperhet mobilizes to support the Telethon. And for this year 2024, the local association Loperhethon has set out on a challenge, with the ascent of the Côte des Genêts d'Or, near the city center, with a 10% difference in altitude, this Sunday, November 10 in the morning.

The event, sponsored by paracyclist Katell Alençon, double European champion and vice-world champion, brought together around a hundred participants. Many children, accompanied by their parents, got on their bicycles for this wonderful charitable action. The record for the number of climbs of the Genêts d'or was shattered with 920 crossings, far ahead of the 545 in 2017.

The event was sponsored by paracyclist Katell Alençon (red jersey, on her bike).

Financial donations essential for research

Present on site, Jacques Gouriou, coordinator of the AFM Telethon in North Finistère, recalls that research on around 7,000 rare diseases is carried out. “It is to cure and advance research into these rare genetic diseases, such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, that financial donations are essential.”
