For the 2025 season, a new ruleInternational Union (UCI) requires teams to design their jerseys to avoid any resemblance to the jerseys of the leaders in the Grand . This rule aims to minimize classification errors and penalties by allowing officials to easily identify riders. Historically, teams like EF Education-EasyPost et Visma | Lease a Bike were already changing their colors for the Giro and the Tour de in order to avoid similarities with the pink and yellow jerseys of the leaders.

No more yellow, green or white jerseys in 2025?

The rule now requires teams to ensure that their outfits are sufficiently different from the jerseys of the leaders of the general classifications, points, best climber and best young person in the Grand Tours. For other stage races, it is up to the organizers to ensure the visual distinction of the leaders' jerseys. This measure was decided on June 17, 2024, effective for 2025. Grand Tour organizers must provide information on their jerseys six months before the event so that teams can adjust their designs if necessary. Some teams, like UAE Team Emirateshave already changed their jerseys for the new season, but not without some discontent. Teams must submit their jerseys for approval by September 30, with adjustments possible until December 1. They are entitled to one “permanent” design per season and three temporary variations approved by theUCI.
