Back to “normal” on this Simac Ladies Tour. After two days that were much more lively than expected, the 5th flat stage over 140 km around the town of Doetinchem did not this time escape the expected massive sprint, with the new victory of Lorena Wiebes ! At the end of a final race disrupted by a big fall just after the red flame – the world champion Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx-Protime) leaving notably well damaged after going violently to the ground – the Dutch sprinter easily offered herself her 3rd success of the week – for the 3rd time in front Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) – and the 4th in a row for the Dutch team.

No change overall

In this final chaos, it is the young Dutchwoman Nienke Veenhoven (Visma | Lease a Bike) which takes the last place on the podium of the day. Logically, Franziska Koch (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) retains its leadership position, the fall in the last kilometer having no impact on the general classification. L‘German still ahead of Briton Zoe Backstedt (Canyon // SRAM Racing) by 5 seconds, Lotte Kopecky being her at 8 seconds. But the Belgian took quite a shock this Saturday, bad news before the final stage this Sunday.
