In the Aigon family, we love adventure. In 2013, Laurent, the dad, a well-known personality in Lacanau-ocean, made headlines by installing a Boeing 737 cockpit in his children’s bedroom. This feat earned this aviation enthusiast the attention of the Internet giant, Google. The result was a very beautiful clip that garnered millions of views.

Today, it is his daughter Lilou, 22 years old, undoubtedly inspired by the commander’s incessant takeoffs and landings on his simulator, who has decided to take flight, but in a slightly different way.

The young woman took a one-way ticket to Nepal. From Kathmandu, his plan is to return to Lacanau… by bike. Karine, his mother, couldn’t resist the urge to accompany him for a few days, to share a little of this adventure, but also to make sure that everything will go well before the big jump. From his smartphone, Laurent, who does not hide a certain anxiety mixed with great pride, regularly checks for news.

Contemporary dance

The trip began on Friday September 27. Before boarding the plane, Lilou spoke to “Sud Ouest”. She explains that this need to explore new horizons emerged during a first stay in Cyprus. “I went there for a contemporary dance course as part of my professional training at the conservatory. On this small island, I found myself surrounded by students from all over the world. Contemporary dance is plural, crossed by numerous styles and artistic movements. I understood that, to evolve, you had to soak up all these influences. And for that, there is nothing better than travel! »

In summary, everything kind of started from there for Lilou. After this experience, the dancer flew to Vietnam, which she backpacked through, then went to New Zealand to work and save some money.

Each time, Lilou chose to travel alone. “This is true freedom. You don’t depend on anyone. And that’s also how we meet people the most. The relationship with people is different. In my bag, I only have a few things, my phone and a good camera. I travel light. »

A first trip to Laos

But what about this slightly crazy idea of going from Nepal to Lacanau by bike? For Lilou, everything happened quite naturally. “In Vietnam, I met a traveler who had crossed South Africa by bike. It inspired me, and this idea stayed in the back of my mind. A little voice told me that I had to try. »

To prepare for this great adventure, the young Canaulaise took action by testing her bike in Laos, another destination that she talks about with enthusiasm. “It’s an easy country to travel through. The people are very hospitable, the landscapes magnificent. Before leaving, I knew nothing about this territory. I took care to only cross small villages, staying away from too touristy places. I had very powerful experiences. »

On the long road that awaits her between Asia and Europe, Lilou gives herself between six months and a year to reach her destination. “I’m going to dance, produce reports on the artists I meet along the way, tell stories. All these experiences will be a sort of extension of my first life, another school where I will learn many new things. »

Regarding the itinerary, Lilou explains that she will adapt it depending on the circumstances. “By interacting with other travelers and local populations, I will decide where to go. » During her journey, the Canaulaise will regularly provide news on her Instagram account (1). An open travel diary that she plans to keep up to date.
