He no longer even hides it, the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada is taking direct inspiration from Donald Trump’s recipe book to seduce the electorate in the run-up to the federal elections.

If we were at school, Pierre Poilievre would be accused of plagiarism and sent to detention.

Wacko scenario

After joining the movement to occupy Parliament Hill by truckers, as Trump did with the interactionists of January 6, here is our Canadian mini-Trump who takes up the linguistic excesses of the former American president.

The expulsion of an opposition leader from the House of Commons is unheard of. Yet it was more than justified considering Poilievre’s affront and insubordination. Rightly, the liberals recalled that the word “wacko» is one of Donald Trump’s favorite words.

In recent weeks, the Conservative leader has been increasing his whistle calls to solidify his support among voters from the most radical conservative fringe.

To describe a prime minister as wacko (crazy) in the middle of the chamber is deliberately violating the parliamentary lexicon and its spirit. For Poilievre, the game seems to have been worth it.

Rejection of the established order

Is it to court a particular electorate that the Conservative leader is multiplying the copies of the former American president?

In politics, there is no chance, only calculations.

Returning to the room after his expulsion, the Conservative leader changed his tone. On the other hand, several of his deputies repeated his words at the motions stage, thus identifying themselves as good soldiers. It’s a safe bet that this kind of disgraceful behavior pleases their voters.

Conservatives accused House Speaker Greg Fergus of being partisan in his decision to expel Poilievre. By letting MPs repeat the same words without consequence, the presidency allowed itself to be trampled by the opposition. I predict such a circus will happen again sooner rather than later.
