Cycling. UCI ranking – Tadej Pogacar inevitably… Mathieu van der Poel falls out of the top 5

But where will it stop? Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates)? First man to exceed 10,000 points in the UCI ranking after the Tour de the Slovenian has only been increasing his savings for two months, and this is of course not his coronation at the World Championships which will take it in the opposite direction. This Tuesday, October 1, the undisputed and indisputable best cyclist on the planet has 11,690 units, thus establishing a new record! Still totaling more than double the points of his runner-up, the third man to have achieved the triple crown (Tour of Italy, Tour de France et Worlds) is accompanied on the podium of the UCI ranking by two Belgians, namely Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) et Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale has a member of the top 5 in its squad!

One of the main lessons from this update of the UCI ranking is that the former wearer of the rainbow jersey, Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), is no longer in the top 5, which has not happened to him for five months. Overtaken by Primoz Roglic (Red Bull – BORA-hansgrohe), the Dutchman also saw Ben O’Connorsecond in the road race of World Championships Sunday, go ahead of him. Constantly progressing this season, the Australian Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team achieved, with this fifth place, the best ranking of his career.

Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) and Enrique Mas (Movistar Team) return to the top 10 and top 20 respectively, while the first Frenchman, Romain Bardet (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) is in a distant 29th position. In the team rankings, no change is to be reported in the top 10. UAE Team Emirates still has a very large lead over Team Visma | Lease a Bike et Soudal Quick-Step. Two French teams are in the top 10, with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team which is seventh and Groupama-FDJ which is ranked ninth.

There are now two French women in the top 10

Among the women, the one who retained her world champion title on Saturday, the Belgian Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx-Protime), retains first place in the world ahead of her Dutch teammate Demi Vollering and the Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek). As for French women, Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) is no longer the only one to appear in the top 10. In fact, the Doubienne is joined by the Jurassienne Avoid Music (FDJ-SUEZ), who enters the top 10 for the first time in his career.
