Lidl-Trek et Lisa Kleinit’s finished! In a press release issued this Friday, the American team Lidl-Trek and the German runner Lisa Klein have decided to separate by mutual agreement. The former two-time winner of the Baloise Ladies Tour in 2019 and 2021 has been running with the American team since 2023. Most recently, she finished second in the mixed relay of European Championships with the German team. Lisa Klein made the difficult decision to focus on his health and his own goals, in consultation with the performance and management team of Lidl-Trek.

Lisa Klein: “The days away from home have become more difficult”

The former German road and time trial champion talks about her particularly complicated year 2024 on a mental and physical level: “The decision was a process, and now I can analyze what went wrong, what was good and what was bad. But most importantly, I can’t continue to ‘float’. I would like to take my chance and continue running for Lidl-Trek next year, but sometimes you have to force things and, at some point, make a decision. This season I struggled to achieve my big goals, and when I ran I felt like I wasn’t recovering like I usually do. Plus, the days away from home have become more difficult. It’s not an easy decision, but it was made after thinking about many things. The solution for me is to step back, have less pressure and be more relaxed. Leaving Lidl-Trek, with such good teammates who have always helped me to be strong, is quite brutal for me.
