The French Olympic vice-champion looked back on his Olympic Games

Valentin Madouas, the Olympic road cycling vice-champion, spoke about his performance at the 2024 Olympic Games and his goals for the rest of his season during his visit to “The Shock Team” among our colleagues at L’Equipe. After a well-deserved week of rest after the Olympics, Madouas expressed his desire not to remain focused on his silver medal, despite the excitement it brought him. “I need races to progress, to be able to perform, I don’t particularly like training and competitions help me to go further”he said.

The positive impact of the Olympic Games

As co-leader of the Groupama-FDJ team alongside David Gaudu, Madouas continues to target victories in the season’s major races. While his Olympic medal has not fundamentally changed his role within the team, he remains determined to perform and get results. “It doesn’t change my role within the team. The objective remains to win races, to achieve big performances at world level”he said. Madouas also highlighted the positive impact the Olympic Games had on his morale. “The Olympics have made me stand out more. I feel a little more recognized. It’s nice. I’m trying to take all this positive energy to get back to work.”he added.
