A Nattokinase, Bromelain and Nanocurcumin cocktail to annihilate the effects of an anti-Covid vaccination? It’s unfounded

Internet users deeming the anti-Covid vaccination dangerous claim that a “cocktail” composed of Bromelain, Nattokinase and Nanocurcumin makes it possible to “annihilate the effects of the injection”. The publications claim that these products can degrade the Spike protein – that of Sars-Cov-2, the virus that causes Covid -, the production of which anti-Covid vaccines temporarily induce in the body to create an immune response. These Internet users conclude that ingesting the three substances can “cancel the vaccination”. But this allegation is unfounded, and these publications are based on poor knowledge of the functioning of messenger RNA vaccines, explained the experts interviewed by AFP.

“Here’s how to SUCCESSFULLY detoxify the body’s spike protein (SPIKE) by Dr. Peter McCullough: 2000 Units Nattokinase 2X/day 500mg Bromelain 500mg Curcumin 2X/day “, says a message posted on X (ex-Twitter) on August 3.

It is accompanied by a video of Peter Mc Cullough, several of whose claims on anti-Covid vaccination have already been verified by AFP (1, 2, 3).

“Base Spike Detox is a base therapy that you can supplement with other things but we think it’s necessary for everyone: there are two ways to break down the Spike protein and remove it from the body. The first is Nattokinase, 2,000 units twice a day, the second is Bromelain 500 milligrams once a day. They both degrade the spike protein in different ways and accelerate its demise together. Finally to reduce the damage of the Spike protein one should use curcumin, either in nano or liposomal form, 500 milligrams twice a day“, he says facing the camera in the extract of just over a minute.

Another video, in which he promotes in another interview the same “cocktail“to annihilate the anti-Covid vaccination, also circulated.

This recipe has been widely taken up on social networks, particularly in France by biologist Hélène Banoun, a regular critic of the management of the Covid crisis.

Poor understanding of how mRNA vaccines work

According to netizens who share this alleged “detox recipe“, these three substances would make it possible to cancel the effects of an anti-Covid vaccination, the injection of which causes the body to produce the Spike protein, also called spike protein. This conclusion, however, is based on poor knowledge. how messenger RNA vaccines work, several specialists told AFP.

Messenger RNA vaccines like those from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna use original technology. Instead of confronting the immune system with a part of a weakened virus or an inactivated form of the virus to elicit antibodies, these vaccines give cells a genetic instruction manual telling the body how to produce –for a limited time– part of the virus: the Spike protein, the one that serves as “key“to enter the human cell.

This immune response allows the body to be trained in order to be able to fight Sars-Cov-2 effectively and immediately in case of infection.

Vaccines therefore do not contain the protein itselfbut they transmit instructions contained in the messenger RNA to produce it.

Note that the Spike protein alone is not pathogenic, especially since it disappears very quickly from the body. “The anti-vaccine discourse would be to think that the Spike remains in the blood and that one could in fact ‘devaccinate’ oneself by removing the Spike. But this is false because when the Spike is produced from the instructions delivered by the messenger RNA, it quickly disappears afterwards“, already underlined in January 2022 Mathieu Molimard, head of the pharmacology department at the Bordeaux University Hospital.

“The principle of RNA vaccination is that it induces the production of the Spike protein very transiently, which is perfectly sufficient to induce a specific immune response from Spike, but very quickly the injected RNAs as well as the proteins from which it has induced manufacturing are degraded. It means that anyway nothing persists in the body except the immune system’s memory for the Spike protein“, also refuted in July 2023 Frédéric Altare, director of the department of Immunology at the Nantes-Angers Cancer and Immunology Research Center (CRCINA) and research director at Inserm.

“So whatever product is developed to break down the Spike protein, it’s just going to do the same thing that happens naturally, this is still just a sales pitch to sell these products by surfing the belief that the Covid vaccine will persist in the body, which is not the case anyway“, he concluded with AFP.

“With RNA vaccines, the Spike protein is produced in very small quantities, for a short time (a few days at most) and in a localized manner. In fact, there are enzymes in the blood called exonucleases which destroy RNA. Despite this, as explained many, many times by scientists around the world since the beginning of the anti-Covid vaccination, anti-vaccine rhetoric continues to claim that the Spike protein induced by vaccines is dangerous and that we should be careful. get rid of it.

“No proteolytic action of these substances once swallowed”

Following this logic, Bromelain, Nattokinase and Nanocurcumin could be used to “destroy“, or at least “accelerate degradation” of the Spike protein generated by the anti-Covid vaccination, support the viral publications. Besides the fact that there is no scientific sense in wanting “destroy vaccine-induced Spike“, the three substances, sold in the form of capsules and which must therefore be swallowed and then digested, have not proven their effectiveness for such use.

“Curcumin is the yellow pigment in turmeric. It is an antioxidant. It does not break down any protein. Bromelain (extracted from the roots of pineapple) and nattokinase (fermented soy) have indeed proteolytic properties. They are therefore capable at high doses to break down proteinslike the Spike protein for example (…) The problem is that enzymes are themselves proteins and they are digested (and therefore lose their enzymatic properties) when they pass through our digestive tract. No proteolytic action should therefore be expected from these substances once swallowed and digested.“, explains Michel Moutschen.

Thus the proteases ingested through Nattokinase or Bromelain capsules arrive in the stomach and therefore cannot meet and act on the vaccine, which is injected locally into the arm muscleemphasize the scientists interviewed.

“When we get vaccinated, we produce Spike in the muscles and it is captured by the cells of the immune system. Eating an enzyme that will remain in the digestive tract will have no effect on the vaccine or the immune system.“, also explained in January 2022 Olivier Schwartz, director of the Virus and Immunity unit at the Institut Pasteur.

AFP has already devoted a verification article to the claim that nattokinase could help “destroy the Spike protein of vaccines” in January 2022, in which the immunologist Frédéric Altare explained that “if people took high doses hoping to get rid of their vaccine, it could have adverse health consequences as attention is being drawn to this product after warning notices issued about its consumption for suspected blood thinning, which could lead to hemorrhages or drops in blood pressure, even if this is not proven“.

An anti-Covid vaccination cannot be “canceled“

Since the launch of the anti-Covid vaccine, many online publications have incorrectly claimed that it would be possible to “neutralize“an anti-Covid vaccination, using, for example, a venom pump, or a cocktail composed of clay, magnesium chloride or grapefruit seeds.

But the scientists interviewed point out thatit is impossible to reverse the effects of an anti-Covid vaccination who has already given instructions to the body to defend itself in the event of infection with Sars-Cov-2.

“The effects of vaccination do not depend on the persistence of the Spike protein. It is really the memory of our immune cells that intervenes and it persists even when the antigen has disappeared. If we wanted to ‘annihilate’ the effects of a vaccination (for some absurd reason, of course), we would have to give immunosuppressive drugs“, believes Michel Moutschen.

“The only way to destroy a vaccination would be to destroy all of an individual’s immune cells and replace them with brand new ones.“, abounds Frédéric Altare.

“Above all, ‘devaccinate’ would not be desirable because the vaccine has demonstrated its effectiveness against serious forms of the disease“, concluded Mathieu Molimard, citing a study published in June 2022 in the journal “The Lancet Infectious Diseases” estimating that the anti-Covid vaccination would have saved 19.8 million lives in the first year following the introduction of the vaccines.

As of June 30, 2023, out of 150 million doses of anti-Covid vaccine administered in France, 1,020 people have requested compensation from Oniam, the national medical accident compensation body, responsible for processing compensation claims from people who have suffered serious medical accidents.

The body issued an opinion on 241 files and for 30% of them, or 72 files, agreed to compensation, according to figures made public in the Senate in mid-July. The compensation mainly concerns myocarditis or pericarditis that occurred after a Covid vaccination. The Oniam figures do not relate to ongoing legal proceedings for vaccine-related accidents.
