The year 2024 was rich in events, but 2025 should not be left behind ! The proof, with this (non-exhaustive) list of which will, without a doubt, make the news in Rouen during this new year.
Tour de France, FCR… There will be sport!
After an Olympic year where Rouen remained a little on the sidelines, 2025 promises to be a sporting year in the Norman capital.
Firstly, with the highly anticipated passage of the Tour de France. On July 8, Rouen will be the finishing city for the fourth stage of the most famous cycling race. An anticipated event that is sure to thrill the entire Rouen metropolis!
On the sports side, despite the elimination in the Coupe de France, we will have to follow the FCR driven by the very great ambitions of its boss Iwan Postel (who dreams of a Rouen Arena). We will also keep an eye on QRMwhich remains in the Coupe de France, but suffers in the championship.
On the hockey side, after a difficult start to the season, the Dragons of Rouen will they resurface to keep their title of Magnus League champions?
Finally, for basketball, we hope for the best for RMB who after a difficult start in pro D2, begins to string together victories.
Big announcements for transport?
Will 2025 be the year of the announcement of a renewal for public transport Rouen? A study was launched in 2022 to consider the future of the Astuce network. Among the avenues mentioned: new tram line(s), passage of sections of Teor by tram, new bus lines… All with the future Saint-Sever station in the sights.
For the moment, the results of this study have not been revealed, but the Métropole must reveal them by summer. Before setting up a consultation to then arbitrate choices.
More immediately, work will begin on the metro network, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. This is a maintenance site to stem wear and tear, and this should last until 2029.
2025 will also see the continuation of work on the future Teor T5 line which will go from Place Carnot in Rouen, to Mont aux Malades in Mont-Saint-Aignan. If all goes well this new connection will be ready in December.
Large construction sites
Major projects will continue to change Rouen. Starting with the connection of the Sud 3 to the Flaubert bridge. A major project, with partial commissioning (in the north-south direction) expected for mid-2025.
We will also watch the works on rue Beauvoisineto make this popular artery in downtown Rouen pedestrian. The project should normally last until the start of the 2025 school year. Other streets will also become pedestrianized, in the Rue aux Ours sector.
Still in the city center, 2025 should see the development of a new garden, the Géricault garden, right next to the Aître Saint-Maclou. An island of greenery which replaces a vacant lot.
At the end of the year, work will also begin on the new Hauts de Rouen school, at Place de la Banane.
But also…
There will of course be many other topics to follow this year. Let us cite a few of them at random.
First, the sea serpents that are the Eastern bypass and the LNPN. Will these two major issues stagnate in light of the current political instability or will they experience new developments?
2028 is the year when Rouen hoped to be European Capital of Culture. Despite the failure, elements of the application must be maintained. But which ones? For the moment, little is known.
We will also have to examine the progress of the conference center file, next to Kindarena. Will we know what it will look like?
Finally, on the political side, we will have to keep our eyes open this year, since the next municipal elections (in 2026) will approach. The forces present should be revealed little by little before the start of the outright campaign.
