In several hospitals in crisis in the face of the flu epidemic, the white plan has been triggered. Caregivers are facing a sometimes record situation since the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The hospital goes into crisis mode, with a crisis unit every day”declares Yann Le Bras, director of the Intercommunal Hospital Center of Toulon, speaking to TF1. In the Var department, where the epidemic continues to rise, several establishments have triggered the white plan, this system making it possible to mobilize more resources in hospitals in the face of an exceptional situation. Nineteen establishments would be affected according to BMTV.
According to the latest Public Health France bulletin, the epidemic has particularly strengthened “in town and in hospital”reports TF1. If all age groups are affected, those under 15 are more affected. “Hospitalizations after visits to the emergency room particularly concerned those aged 65 and over”says the institute. The cities affected by the various white plans are Toulon, Nantes, Avignon, Cholet and Aubenas.
A record since Covid?
According to Jérémy Beurel, FO deputy secretary at Nantes University Hospital, the level of tension is such that “operations are deprogrammed to free up beds”he reports at the RMC microphone. He adds: “we ask colleagues who are already exhausted to come in as reinforcements”.
At Toulon hospital, a third of the beds are occupied by flu patients. On the Île-de-France side, “we broke the record on Monday for the number of patients lying on stretchers since Covid-19”alerts Bruno Mégarbane, head of the intensive care unit at Lariboisière hospital in Paris.
