Hanoi, (VNA) – Pacific Airlines, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Airlines group, resumed its domestic routes on June 26 with a fleet of Airbus A321s after a period of restructuring.

It will operate six to eight flights per day on routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Da Nang and Chu Lai. During certain peak periods, it will proactively increase flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hue and Tuy Hoa.

With this program, the airline will operate a total of nearly 1,000 flights, the equivalent of more than 180,000 seats, during the peak tourist season.

To prepare the necessary resources, Pacific Airlines will gradually receive and put into service three Airbus A321s.

During its restructuring, apart from resuming the flight network, the airline has also ensured to significantly improve its service standards, allowing passengers to enjoy international services equivalent to those of the national carrier Vietnam Airlines.

This takeover marks a first positive result in its restructuring efforts. Through a series of solutions, the airline is expected to recover quickly, operate efficiently and grow sustainably in the future.

Corporate restructuring is one of the effective self-help solutions adopted by many airlines globally and in Vietnam, amid severe and lingering impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the aviation industry .

Pacific Airlines suspended flights on March 18 to restructure its fleet and flight network to ensure operational efficiency.

The airline was established in 1991 and was the first low-cost airline with state-owned companies as shareholders. It has been facing operational difficulties for many years. In 2022, the company suffered a loss of nearly 2.1 trillion VND ($84.5 million) due to the impacts of the pandemic. – VNA
