In September, the circulation of Covid-19/SARS-CoV-2 increased sharply in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, mainly due to a marked increase during the last two weeks (W38 and W39), notes Public Health France in its bulletin of October 3.
In community medicine, at SOS Médecins, procedures for suspected Covid experienced a “marked increase” of +123% with 1,278 procedures compared to 573 procedures in August. The rate of actions for suspected Covid was 4.0% in September compared to 1.9% in August. Visits to emergency rooms jumped by +78% with 1,552 visits for suspected Covid in September compared to 872 visits. The majority (59%) concerned people aged 65 and over. However, the share of Covid activity in total emergency room visits remains moderate in September at 0.8% (versus 0.5% in August).
In week 39 (September 23 to 29), the weekly number of Covid visits in the region exceeded 500 for the first time in the year while the positivity rate of samples taken in the city rose to 28.9 %.
