This year, no tiara or pearl necklace, Queen Mathilde of Belgium chose simplicity for her traditional photos shared with the population, on the occasion of her birthday. For her 52nd birthday, the Queen of the Belgians preferred to be photographed during a winter walk on the royal estate of Laeken.

Queen Mathilde's birthday coincides each year with the return to work period for the wife of the Belgian head of state. Since the first days of January, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde have been organizing New Year's receptions and ensuring some official engagements. This week will be busier for the sovereigns, who will be in Switzerland for several days to attend the Davos Economic Forum, an unmissable meeting for leaders from around the world. Next Monday, January 27, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde will travel to Poland, where they will meet other monarchs and presidents who will attend the major ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz camp.
