VIDEO – Faced with Aurélie Casse in “C l’hebdo”, the former minister gave his point of view on the reports which seriously tarnish the reputation of the religious.
The statues are unbolted. A name that embodied exemplary behavior in popular language tends to become synonymous with sexual assault and abuse of power. In two reports published in July and September, 24 women accuse Abbé Pierre of forced kisses, masturbation, fellatio without consent, which occurred between 1950 and 2000.
Guest of Aurélie Casse on Saturday, Bernard Kouchner was invited to react to these reports which seriously tarnish the reputation of the religious and founder of Emmaüs. A traveling companion of the abbot, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs published with him, in 1993, God and mena work bringing together some of their conversations.

« How do we feel when we discover these accusations, when we have been his friend? »asks Aurélie Casse. « We say a lot of things to each other. In terms of the accusations, certain areas do not seem clear to me. But, finally, we say to ourselves that it’s disgusting, of course. It’s disgusting but that’s not enough to talk about a man like Abbé Pierre »affirms the octogenarian, who then denounces the obligation of chastity of priests. And seems to perceive there the origin of the excesses of the religious, who had also confessed to having had relations with women. Aurélie Casse, who believes that it is not a question of « the question » raised by the affair, the cut: « The chastity of priests in no way excuses… »

« But I don’t excuse it! »then retorts the one who was the special representative of the UN Secretary General in Kosovo, before launching in a too sharp tone: « I find it disgusting. Don’t accuse me of finding that…” And to conclude, more peacefully: « It’s horrible but, once again, let’s not forget everything he did on the side. »
The third report, made public last week, from the firm mandated by Emmaüs International, Emmaüs France and the Abbé Pierre Foundation, reports nine new accusations of sexual violence brought against this figure of charity in France.
