“My new single will be released in March”

A clip shot on December 18 with the Hillion mussel farmers, a single which should be released in March. Anthony Chaplain chose the bay mussels to write his next success.

“This song was written a long time ago, the lyrics and the music. But it remained at the bottom of a drawer as is the case for many artists: we are inspired by a theme, but it is not the moment,” explains the artist, originally from Saint-Alban, near Lamballe.

La Belle de la Baie, he would have written it in 2005, 2006, in the wake of his immense success Marie La Dondaine, released in 2003.

“At the time, I even went to the studio for a few days to record it to propose a model. » And this model, recorded on a USB key, “I left it in the wrong hands…” he regrets.

Because since the beginning of January, two artists have accused him of plagiarism. “I am also an author, lyricist and novelist. I wrote a song in 2008 called The Beauty of the Bay, composed by Gildas Pereira, recorded at the Toot studio in Saint-Brieuc in 2010. This song was stolen by Anthony Chaplain. » Nadine Girard, author of this letter addressed to the press, is categorical.

For mussel farmers

Why is this accusation only coming out now? “In 2024, I had the opportunity to speak with the Bailly family, in Hillion, who told me about the difficulties they were encountering regarding mussel cultivation », remembers Anthony Chaplain who takes a liking to his interlocutors.

Then I remembered this song that I wrote and never got around to releasing.

A single on the Belle of the Bayd’influence celtic rockwell-crafted, a bit like Soldat Louis, to highlight this unique know-how of the bay of Saint-Brieuc.

“To support our local mussel farmers. They were excited about the project. » Helped by his right-hand man, Rodolfo Do Alto, he submitted the title to Sacem.

In the process, he organizes filming a music videoin Hillion, on the bouchot mussel cultivation sites.

“No authorization”

It was this clip that alerted Nadine Girard and Gildas Pereira. Both artists claim that the original text of the song The Beauty of the Bay was written in 2008 by Nadine Girard and submitted to the SNAC (National Union of Authors and Composers).

“In 2009 and 2010, I reworked the text and the title of the song”, and again protected the final version.

Anthony Chaplain is neither the author nor the composer of La Belle de la Baie. He plagiarized our title, without any authorization from us.

After formal notice, the two artists threatened to initiate legal proceedings. Anthony Chaplain remains very serene, sure of what he is doing.

“My model of the title is earlier. I need to be able to contact the Montfort-sur-Meu studio to get concrete information. But anyway, my version is filed with Sacem. They can’t do anything…”

The clip is being edited and the release of Anthony Chaplain’s single is scheduled: “Le single de la Belle of the Bay will be released in March. »

Two albums in project

Two other albums are in the works: a best of to be released by the end of 2025, “with a remastering of the titles and cool duets”, comments Rodolfo.

An album with only unreleased tracks, including The Beauty of the Bayshould be released in early 2026.

A concert is also planned, on February 22 near Cholet.

I have reduced the concerts a little: I put health first, smiles the artist from Saint-Alban. But I will never refuse a service in a small bar or at an event, to help.
