While a biopic retracing his life will be released on January 22 in , Robbie Williams has made enormous revelations concerning king Charles III. Indeed, the Briton revealed that he had been asked to sing for the sovereign’s coronation. A proposal that he would have simply declined.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, her son Charles III was crowned king in May 2023. For the occasion, a day of celebrations was planned in the United Kingdom. The sovereign received his royal crown in the sumptuous setting of Westminster Abbey.

Present on the set of Watch What Happens Live to promote the release of his biopic Better ManRobbie Williams set the record straight regarding a big rumor. Indeed, Andy Cohen, the host of the show, asked him if it was true that he had refused to perform at the coronation of Charles III. A question to which the British popstar answered bluntly.

“Yes, that’s true, but I had a very good reason.”explained Robbie Williams, under the eye of his wife Ayda Field. “I was working”he added. “I was held because of a contract that I couldn’t refuse because of the money.“, explained the artist in all honesty.

Robbie Williams: his anecdote of which he is “not proud”

If he did not say more about the commitment in question which prevented him from participating in the coronation of the king, Robbie Williams then mentioned a strange anecdote shared with Bono, from U2.

Invited to speak about his former consumption of hallucinogenic mushrooms, Robbie Williams explained that he took it in Bono’s presence years ago. “At the end of the evening, I noticed a beautiful painting in Bono’s living room. I told him it was the most beautiful painting I had ever seen. Bono said, ‘That’s the window, Robbie”. An anecdote which made the public laugh a lot, but which Robbie Williams admitted was not “not proud”.
