Germain: “De Zerbi has toughened his tone in his management”

Roberto De Zerbi has decided to make changes in his management and this is reflected in the results.

Since the start of the season, Olympique de coach Roberto De Zerbi has made some changes in his management which have led to big changes in the results. Present in the show “Rothen s'igname” on RMC Sport, journalist Florent Germain returned to the Italian technician's method, which has evolved since the start of the season by focusing on meritocracy.

“There was something that clicked after OM-Auxerre. De Zerbi questioned himself in the system. He toughened the tone in his management, he let certain things pass that he no longer lets pass in his attitude. And it's clear that he has management that may seem simple: the one who deserves to play, through his performance and his attitude in training, will play.

The journalist illustrated these statements with two examples.

“This was seen with the choice of Bilal Nadir (against , editor's note) who was able to surprise from the outside, but internally, we felt that (Bilal) Nadir had taken the lead over players like Ismaël Koné. In the eyes of (Roberto) De Zerbi, Nadir is better than Koné. Let's not even talk about the Neal Maupay-Elye Wahi case, because at the start of the season, De Zerbi claimed that Wahi was his starter. He wanted to protect Wahi, it's over. It’s very clear, messages are being sent to certain players”

The results prove that the De Zerbi method worked with five victories in six matches. The next match will be a trip to then a big match against in the round of 16 of the French Cup.
