Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalize their divorce. The singer and actor, who announced their breakup in August, before beginning mediation in September, asked a judge this week to supervise the final stage of their separation.

As reported by The Associated Press, Jennifer Lopez filed documents this Monday, January 6, showing that she will not seek alimony from her ex-husband. And that she will no longer use the Affleck name once the divorce is finalized.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were married in July 2022. According to legal divorce forms, the couple separated in April 2023 before initiating divorce proceedings in August 2024.

First high-profile relationship

Their highly publicized relationship began in the 2000s. After appearing in two films – Lilies in 2003 and Jersey Girl in 2004 -, the couple separated citing pressure from the public and the paparazzi.

Engaged for the first time at the time, they had planned to get married in 2003, before postponing the wedding, then announcing their separation in 2004. Against all expectations, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck found each other 17 years later , during the pandemic.

He was divorced from Jennifer Garner, with whom he had three children. And she was divorced from Marc Anthony, with whom she has twins. Their much-publicized wedding was celebrated twice, first in Las Vegas and then in the state of Georgia.
