For 36 yearsat the end of each December, Ifop questions the French on behalf of the JDD in order to answer a question that burns on our lips: who are the most important, most appreciated personalities of the country. To do this, the polling institute establishes a panel of 1000 peoplewho must rank 50 celebrities proposed to them depending on the news (but also their ranking from last year). And if, for the year 2024, we inevitably find many athletesOlympic Games oblige, we also observe some much less encouraging trends.
Back to basics
First somewhat disheartening observation: the French do not a priori like novelty and youth. Either that, or Ifop only questioned people over 70 years oldand we hope they have a little more professionalism than that. And for good reason, at the top of this rankingwithout any surprise, we find Jean-Jacques Goldman, for the 14th time since the creation of this top in 1988.
A feat, when we know that his only notable achievement in recent yearss is to have taken holidays in Brittany this summer. At his side, we find Eddy Mitchell (20th), present in the top since its creation, Florent Pagny (4e), Sophie Marceau (14th), she has also been present since the very first edition at the age of 23 at the time. Or even Michel Sardou (12e), Pierre Richard (26e), Christian Clavier (23rd)… In short, only figures that breathe innovation and modernity.
A striking reflection of our society
We therefore note a fairly marked penchant for nostalgia (both the radio station and the feeling) and the past. Unfortunately, these are not not the only things that we perceive through this classification. In fact, you have to wait la 11e place (!) to see a woman appear in the top, and it’s none other than Marine Le Penwhich carries out a progression of 50 places compared to last year. It is moreover the personality who made the best progress. She follows her best friend Jordan Bardella, 10e, and I might as well tell you that this is not good news.
Fortunately, despite all this grayness and this depression, on observe some clearings at the start of the year, in particular thanks to the entry or rise in the ranking of a number of Olympic champions. Teddy Riner thus takes its place in the top 3, just behind Omar Sy. Leon Marchand (aka the GOAT, or at least the Greatest of the JO) makes a sensational entry in 5th placelike the Lebrun brothers (31st) you Antoine Dupont (8th). And even if there is a drastic lack of women, that’s already it.
