“We told the parents that we could not treat him”: A tribe of Large Families faced with the unthinkable

The year 2025 is not starting off in the best way for one of the clans of Large families, life in XXL. Contacted by Leisure one of the mothers on the TF1 show spoke about an illness that is gnawing away at one of her family members. A serious illness that considerably reduces life expectancy.

Usually, Internet users can discover a very sunny Souad Romero. The mother of five children is very active on Instagram and delights her community on a daily basis. But lately, she has been more discreet and for good reason, her tribe has been hit by a family tragedy. As Internet users were able to discover last weekend, the candidate of Large families and some of his children went to the Timone hospital to visit a young cousin of Rachel, Kézia, Mario, Laïna and Isaac. His name is Joy, and when he was only 8 years old, he was diagnosed with an illness that gave him little time to live.

The Romero family faces a family tragedy

The child suffers from subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), a progressive brain disorder, usually fatal, occurring months or, as is often the case, years after measles. A drama about which Souad Romero confided in Leisure TV. “Research is expensive, it is a little-known disease. The little one is only 8 years oldhe had seizures and worrying discomforts. He now finds himself bedridden in hospital overnightwith mini epileptic seizures every 2 minutes“, she confided at first. A diagnosis that she recently learned. “We told the parents that we could not treat him. Doctors have no cure and his life expectancy is now estimated between 1 year and 5 years…It’s so hard. Seeing Little Saturday, I was overwhelmed. That’s why I stopped posting stories“, she continued.

Despite everything, Joy’s family is mobilizing to find treatment in health centers. A fund has been set up to help them.
