It’s desolation in Pacific Palisades, an upscale district of Los Angeles which is home to many Hollywood stars. A violent forest fire is ravaging the area, forcing thousands of people to flee. In the midst of chaos, some residents are struggling to be useful. This is what Steve Guttenberg, the unforgettable Agent Mahoney, chose to do in the “Police Academy” saga. The actor was busy clearing the access roads for the firefighters when a journalist from the KTLA channel tackled him.
Speaking directly to the camera, the comedian urges residents to leave their car keys in their vehicles. “So we can move your car so the fire trucks can access Pacific Palisades,” says Steve Guttenberg. “It’s not a parking lot, people really need to move their cars,” insists the actor. Equipped with a mask and ski goggles, the journalist thanks his interlocutor for his explanations, before asking his name.
“My name is Steve Guttenberg, I live up the hill,” replies the actor, who says he is worried about friends of his. The journalist then recognizes the actor. “You are an actor. Your face is familiar to me,” he says. Steve Guttenberg then responds in the affirmative, then insists that people and their animals are still stuck at the top of the hill because the street is congested. “Don’t worry about your personal belongings. Leave. Take your loved ones and leave,” concludes the actor.
Several celebrities were hit hard by this fire. Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag, stars of the reality TV series “The Hills”, broadcast on MTV between 2006 and 2010, lost their home.
Actor James Woods fled with his family after sharing an apocalyptic video on social media.
Other fires are raging in the region, notably in Pasadena. Actress and singer Mandy Moore left her home in disaster with her three children, before giving reassuring news. In the San Fernando Valley, where stars like Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks and the Kardashians live, the fire also threatens many homes.
