When Demi Moore gave her powerful speech upon receiving her first Golden Globe on Sunday night in Los Angeles, her entire family exploded with joy, which can be seen in the Instagram video posted by the actress’ daughter, Rumer Glemm Willis.
The 62-year-old actress revealed she felt at the lowest point in her career before landing a role in The Substancea film which won him the prize for best performance at the awards ceremony yesterday.
“I really didn’t expect this,” she began. “I’m in shock right now. I’ve been doing this job for a long time, more than 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve won anything as an actress. »
“I am so moved and grateful,” she continued. “Thirty years ago, a producer told me I was a ‘popcorn actress.’ At the time, I understood that this was not something I had the right to have. I could make films that were successful, that made a lot of money, but I couldn’t be recognized. I believed it and it impacted me over time, to the point that I thought, a few years ago, that maybe that was it. Maybe I had done what I was supposed to do. »
However, Coralie Fargeat’s film and its “magical” scenario lifted Demi Moore at a time when she felt at the lowest point in her career.
“The universe told me, ‘It’s not over.’ I am very grateful to Coralie for trusting me to play this woman. To Margaret (Qualley) for being the other half of myself,” she added, before offering the audience one final lesson of wisdom. “A woman told me, ‘Know that you will never be enough. But you can know your worth if you put down the measuring stick.’ This is why, today, I celebrate this event as a marker of my fullness and the love that animates me. For the gift of doing something I love and reminding me that I belong, thank you very much. »
