Trial of Stéphane Plaza: the host deemed “fit to appear” on January 9

He did not appear at the first hearing, on August 28, due to “psychological fragilities”. But this time, Stéphane Plaza will be present at his trial for “habitual violence” against two ex-partners, scheduled for next Thursday, January 9 at the judicial court.

The M6 host was deemed “fit to appear” during a medical assessment, one of his lawyers, Me Carlo Alberto Brusa, informed Le Parisien, confirming information from BFMTV. “He is ready to face this hearing, to respond to the court and above all to establish his innocence,” explains Me Carlo Alberto Brusa. “He wants to prove that these are false, slanderous accusations,” adds Stéphane Plaza’s counsel.

Complaints filed by two former companions

On August 28, Stéphane Plaza did not appear at the first hearing. The facilitator had provided a medical certificate indicating psychological weaknesses. An absence which led the Paris court to postpone the trial until January 9 and to order a medical assessment to “find out whether or not he was fit to appear”, indicates Stéphane Plaza’s lawyer.

At the end of December, Stéphane Plaza broke his silence in a message published on Instagram to thank his supporters. “Today, I am exceptionally taking up my pen to send you a little word. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support throughout this year. It was difficult, but thanks to you, I am still standing,” declared the real estate agent to M6, who categorically contests the accusations against him.

On September 21, 2023, Mediapart published an in-depth article on the actions in his private life of the real estate agent who became a star. In this investigation, Stéphane Plaza was thus accused of violence against three of his former partners, including physical violence against two of them, in addition to psychological violence. Two of them then filed a complaint, the Paris prosecutor’s office having opened an investigation entrusted to the Paris Central Police Station. The host faces a sentence of up to ten years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros.
