More than a decade after the debut of the comedy on the NBC network, the two men are still working on the development of a film to conclude the adventures of the entire troupe. If the details of the plot of the so-called project Community – The Movie remain a secret, Ken Jeong spoke about his feelings when reading the script. Asked by TV Insider, the interpreter of Spanish teacher Ben Chang did not hide his desire to return to service. It brought new information regarding the development.
“There is a scenario, a plan. We just don’t know when it will happen (the filming, editor’s note). Once we have agreed on all this, it will be magical and moving. I think reliving that on set will be very rewarding. There are no words to express this.”
He adds that the versions presented to him moved him greatly. “It took me straight back to the past. That’s all I have the legal right to say.”. According to some reports, the Community film is in development, the teams are reworking certain elements. Last October, Yvette Nicole Brown explained that all the actors had read a complete script. “I think it’s being reworked.”
Who will be in the casting?
The project is still very mysterious, but we can expect to find the headliners of the series. This obviously includes Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi et Donald Glover. Ken Jeong is therefore also involved, as is Yvette Nicole Brown. No director is attached at this time. As a reminder, the Russo brothers were among the directors invited to the first seasons of the series. The fact remains that the two men are particularly busy, they must hatch the next two films Avengers for Marvel. It’s hard to imagine them coming back after so many years and such a busy schedule.
We also do not know how the film will be offered, in streaming or in cinemas. The first option seems to be the most likely. Community would thus join the field of emblematic series of the 2000s to have offered themselves a rebirth on the shelves of a subscription streaming platform, at random Universal+ which is struggling to make its mark in France. Recently, Malcolm offered itself a journey in four episodes on Disney+ while the universes of That 70’s Show et Sex and the City enjoyed a sequel on the shelves of Netflix and Max.
