Acting with a tarantula may not be every actor’s dream. However, this is what the STAT actors had to do this season, while the author Marie-Andrée Labbé invited a spider between the walls of Saint-Vincent hospital.
We were able to discuss it with the actor Bruno Marcil, who had to interact very closely with the beast, an adventure of which he has fond memories.
We will remember the scary scene where Daniel had the spider on his leg. On this subject, the actor tells us: “ Yes, it was my leg, and I even had to stroke her abdomen for her to move forward. » This is a situation that would have given many arachnophobes nightmares, but which did not seem to bother the actor.
« Quite honestly, I don’t like spiders, but it’s like they’re another animal. You know, she’s big, she’s hairy. Honestly, she’s not ugly. I find it less ugly than the big dock spiders we have here. »
Then I knew she didn’t really bite.
« She never bit, she was gentle. I couldn’t poison myself, so I thought she was cute. »
He continues: “ We do lots of different businesses in our profession. It allowed me to play with a spider that day! I played with a beaver, I played…I played with a few animals, and the spider was maybe the most collaborative. (laughs) You had to flatter her to make her move. »
In this sense, the actor remembers a moment in his career, several years ago, when he had to play with a snake for a Videotron advertisement: “ I once had a 7 foot long albino boa on me, then I was in bobettes (laughs). I admit that the spider there wasn’t much compared to that! »
