James Van Der Beek is not the type to feel sorry for himself: after revealing that he has colon cancer, the former star of the series Dawson – of which he played the main role from 1998 to 2003 – decided to take the bull by the horns to cover the cost of his treatment… and financially help other families affected by the same illness, reports CNews.

To do this, Van Der Beek announced the marketing of a limited edition of jerseys inspired by his role in American Boysa 1998 film in which he played a young (American) footballer suddenly propelled to the highest level.

“100% of net profits will be donated to families facing the financial burden of cancer (including mine),” he wrote in the caption of an Instagram post in which he can be seen wearing one of the jerseys (which (he signed them all personally).

James Van Der Beek revealed in early November 2024 that he was suffering from stage 3 colorectal cancer and which he had been diagnosed with in 2023, recalls CNews. He quickly announced that he was “cautiously optimistic”, indicating that he was “in a healing phase with an excellent level of energy”.
