Since their resounding departure from the British royal family in 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have settled in California with their two children. If the Duke of Sussex has made several trips to the United Kingdom, his wife has not set foot there since 2022. However, a return of the Duchess of Sussex is on the horizon, thanks to one of her closest friends.
Ellen DeGeneres, a faithful friend
Ellen DeGeneres, 66, is a longtime friend of Meghan Markle. The two women became friends when the former actress starred in the American series Suits. According to the Daily Mail, the presenter and his wife Portia De Rossi, 51, have already purchased a luxurious mansion in the Cotswolds, a picturesque region of the United Kingdom.
In the past, Ellen DeGeneres visited Meghan, Harry and their son when they were still living in the United Kingdom. If the move goes through as planned, the royal couple could soon return the favor.
A departure motivated by American politics
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife's decision to leave the United States is said to be partly motivated by Donald Trump's recent victory in the presidential elections. According to the Daily Mail, the couple would be “very disillusioned“by this result and would intend to”get the hell out” of the country.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi were also seen last week at The Farmer's Dog pub in the Cotswolds, run by host Jeremy Clarkson. This visit reinforces the hypothesis of an imminent move by the couple.
A family Christmas for Meghan and Harry
While rumors of a possible return of the Sussexes to the United Kingdom are growing, Meghan Markle is already preparing for the end of year celebrations with her children, Archie and Lilibet, aged 5 and 3 respectively.
In an interview with Marie Claire, the former actress explains that the experience of parenting during the Christmas period has evolved over the years: “When you become a parent, you savor every moment with your children, even if they don't yet really understand everything that is happening around them. Today, they have grown up, and I look forward to rediscovering magical moments every year through their amazed eyes.“
