a workshop to give a second life to books

On Wednesday November 20, 2024, the municipal library L'Île aux Livres organized, free of charge and for all, a creative folded book workshop.

Rather than sending old, damaged for recycling, participants learned to fold them, like origami, to transform them into pretty interior decorations (Christmas tree, angels, etc.). A great way to give a second life to your dusty works.

Catherine Borderie, library volunteer, is the initiator of this program, helped by volunteers and members of the Read and Share in Bouchardais association. Throughout the afternoon, they patiently guided the participants in creating their decorations, in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Members of the Theneuillaise creative encounters association, as well as children and their parents, were very involved in the task and were able to leave with their works.

In total, around twenty people were able to enjoy this moment of sharing. The appointment has already been made to renew the folded books workshop in 2025 and it is very likely that other creative activities will be organized at the library.
